The internal differences between C3 and C4 bearings is clearance from the ball or roller surface to the outer race.
C2's are common in older OEM engine but if in any doubt use C3.

• We advise using C3 for crank bearings unless you know what you are doing such as requiring C4 used mainly in racing
• The C3 bearing is the bearing that is used for normal applications
• The C4 bearing is looser or has more clearance and is used in hotter environments such as racing
• When running at temperature, the C4 bearing will expand and close the gap
• When bearings are manufactured, there are variances in the amount of movement between inner and outer races which are measured and sorted at the end of the factory production line
